Hello Education is pleased to be working in partnership with specialist SEND schools to recruit dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistants. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people aged 2-19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and challenging behaviour. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential within a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND, including those with ASC, SEMH needs, and challenging behaviour.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons aligned with individual learning needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Support the effective management and de-escalation of challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.
- Promote pupils' independence, confidence, and emotional regulation.
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider school teams to ensure consistent and effective support for all pupils.
Person Specification
- Have experience (or a strong interest in gaining experience) working with children or young people with SEND and/or challenging behaviour in a UK school or care setting.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
- Are patient, resilient, and confident in managing behaviour in a calm and supportive manner.
- Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, ideally with a SEND specialism.
- Hold a valid Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, or are willing to obtain one prior to starting.
