Community is at the heart of Second Act, so we need a writer who puts it at the heart of everything they create too.

This role is ideal for someone who loves planning as much as writing: not just pitching ideas and writing features, but understanding that great editorial doesn’t end when an article is published, but is carefully thought through, scheduled and carried across newsletters, social media and meaningful audience conversation. You’ll be a core voice of HELLO!’s Second Act, bringing structure, clarity and momentum to the editorial workflow while writing smart, warm stories that get our audience talking and shapes how they experience the brand across different platforms and touchpoints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and write regular newsletters, with a strong sense of voice, rhythm and audience connection.
  • Engage actively with the Second Act community – responding to comments, feedback and conversations where appropriate.
  • Input creatively into every step of our podcast production process, from suggesting guests and conversation topics to editing transcripts and writing promo articles and press releases.
  • Cultivate your intimate relationship with our community to help plan both online and IRL events.
  • Work closely with the social team (and create social content yourself) to ensure stories are translated effectively for Instagram, Facebook and other platforms.
Your profile
  • You are a strong, confident, experienced writer with a warm, trusted voice, with a background in women’s lifestyle brands and publications who put community at their hearts.
  • You’re immersed in midlife communities, with a deep understanding of the topics and issues that get 40+ women talking, thinking and engaging.
  • You instinctively think about audience and community when developing stories.
  • You’re experienced at writing for different formats: longform, shortform, newsletter copy and social captions.
  • You’re confident at using different platforms and planning tools to create and optimise digital content.
  • You’re collaborative, organised and comfortable juggling multiple deadlines.
Experience
  • Significant experience in women’s lifestyle, community-focused or midlife brands and publications.
Qualifications
  • A relevant degree is desirable but not essential.
Benefits
  • 25 days annual leave per year (for full time employees).
  • 1 birthday day per year.
  • Private Medical Scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Life Assurance currently 6 x salary.
  • Generous Employer Pension contributions.
  • Group Income Protection Scheme.
  • Plus all of the perks of working for a fun media company!
