Your Role at the Start of the New Term: As a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will become an integral part of a pupil’s school experience—providing encouragement, structure, and personalised support to help them thrive.

  • Individual Support – Work closely with a pupil with additional needs (such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or global developmental delay), supporting their access to learning and daily school activities.
  • Adapt and Assist – Tailor activities to meet the pupil’s specific needs and learning style, ensuring engagement and inclusion.
  • Consistent Support – Respond to challenges with patience and professionalism, maintaining clear boundaries and using positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Build Trust – Establish a reliable and supportive presence, offering emotional reassurance, encouragement, and structure.
  • Behaviour Support – Implement effective strategies to promote positive behaviour and support self‑regulation where required.
  • Celebrate Progress – Recognise and encourage both small achievements and significant milestones, helping to unlock each pupil’s full potential.

We Are Seeking Candidates Who:

  • Have experience working with children with additional needs, or a strong desire to gain such experience within an educational or care setting.
  • Demonstrate a calm, consistent, and emotionally aware approach, with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Understand the importance of routine, patience, and positive reinforcement.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and pupils.
  • Hold, or are willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Bring empathy, enthusiasm, and a proactive attitude to each school day.
