About the role
- 24h, Live in Care, 2 hour break Mon-Fri.
- The family are happy to discuss holidays/time off as they are aware 24/7 care is a lot of work (4 weeks on 1 week off, or 6 weeks on 2 weeks off, etc).
- Fixed rate - £1000 per week.
Requirements
- We are looking for a female care worker who is calm, friendly, and chatty, able to engage with the client throughout the week.
- The care worker must be physically able to walk long distances as part of the client’s daily routine and support needs.
- The candidate should be confident working independently, while also being supported by the client’s family and our management team.
- Italian speaking is required.
About the client
The client was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2023, this is a cognitive disorder that will continue to decline over time. Physically, the client has scoliosis, becomes breathless while walking, and occasionally complains of knee, hip, or lower back pain. She is deaf and wears a hearing aid in her left ear, she also often reverts to Italian as this is her mother tongue. The client is a happy, bubbly, fun lady, she enjoys laughing and will dance anywhere! She always wants to help, if you are cooking or cleaning, she will want to help, so it’s important to involve her in all activities. Please note that according to the care plan, no meat should be cooked inside the house; however, cold meat may be consumed.
Daily living skills
- Can eat and drink independently, though food must be cut into small bite size pieces. The support worker must eat with her, otherwise she will become distracted and try to give you food.
- Requires general support/supervision for showering and toileting, often this is just small verbal prompts to wash hair and body.
- She requires supervision in the shower as she is a fall risk, she requires support to move in and out of the shower tub.
- You must hold her hand at all times while in the community.
Behaviour
Sometimes will tap a carer's bottom, chest or belly, this is meant in a familiar/funny way and is not meant to offend. She is a very happy funny person that loves to sing and dance! She is drawn to children and dogs, she will often touch the child’s face in affection as this was culturally acceptable in Italy.
