Overview: Senior Healthcare Assessor – a senior role with real responsibility leading quality improvement, mentoring colleagues, and deputising for the Registered Manager when needed. The role involves providing expert practice, championing person‑centred care, and driving continuous improvement of quality, safety and compliance across our service.
Responsibilities:
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and conduct internal audits across care assessments, medication records and visit documentation.
- Mentor healthcare assessors, providing supervision, coaching and support for their clinical development.
- Design and carry out planned and unannounced spot checks in the field.
- Oversee safeguarding responses and incident management.
- Contribute to strategic service improvement and quality initiatives.
- Manage on‑call duties on a rotating basis.
- Supervise and line‑manage the Healthcare Assessor team, including appraisals.
- Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
Qualifications:
- At least 12 months’ experience as a Healthcare Assessor, or in a management or leadership role within a domiciliary or community care setting.
- Experience supervising, mentoring or line‑managing others in a care environment.
- Solid understanding of CQC regulations, the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant safeguarding frameworks.
- Proven experience leading audits, quality reviews and producing clear written reports.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients, families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Good computer literacy including Microsoft Office and care management systems.
- Commitment to person‑centred care and continuous improvement.
- NVQ Level 3 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) – desirable.
- Full valid UK driving licence with access to a personal vehicle.
