Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Health Safety and Environmental Manager - Role Overview:

The Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Manchester site operates in full compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation and standards. The role plays a critical part in protecting our people, supporting operational excellence, and minimising environmental impact to ensure a sustainable future for the site. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping the safety culture and environmental performance of a large, complex manufacturing site. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, influence real change, and make a tangible impact on the wellbeing of our people and the sustainability of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation, advising the business on best practice and effective implementation
  • Monitor and audit site processes against HSE legal and management system requirements, reporting on variances and driving corrective actions
  • Maintain and develop site certifications and management systems, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001, ensuring alignment with UK-wide systems
  • Act as the site HSE lead for customer audits, regulatory inspections and external assessments
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient risk assessments are in place, reviewed at appropriate intervals and effectively communicated
  • Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions

What We’re Looking For:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (essential)
  • Proven experience as an HSE Manager within a manufacturing environment (minimum 3 years preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
  • Qualified internal auditor (desirable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Full UK driving licence
