At Helixos, we drive cleantech commercialization through strategy, communications, and technical advisory, with a focus on nuclear energy and fusion. We support the entire journey of technology development and deployment — from ideas to impact — and optimize the relationship between people, technology, and nature. We’re building a globally distributed team across Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, of smart, mission‑driven people who care about the future of energy and want to make an impact through their work. Our team brings together experience in strategy consulting, engineering, science, business, and communications, particularly in nuclear energy, fusion, and other advanced technologies.

This is a remote position. We are recruiting a Technical Editor to join our team on a flexible/casual basis, where the amount of support required may vary depending on fluctuations in client demands. Within this role you will primarily support our strategic communications services, whilst also contributing to our strategy, commercialisation, and technical advisory team. This opportunity is open to individuals eligible for employment in Australia, the United States, or the United Kingdom. This type of role may involve access to nuclear technical data regulated under U.S. 10 CFR Part 810. To comply with U.S. export control laws, consideration may be limited to citizens of the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, and other countries generally authorised under 10 CFR Part 810. Please check this list before applying, and ensure that ALL citizenships you hold are included within it.

The key requirements within this role are as follows:

  • Technical editing and proofreading
  • Review short and long reports, presentations, and other deliverables for clarity, coherence, and accuracy.
  • Ensure the content aligns with our style guide and standards.
  • Edit for correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax in the allotted English language type (Australian, American, Canadian, or British).
  • Ensure consistency in headings, bullet points, and numbering.
  • Ensure consistency in acronyms, references, and statements/figures throughout the document.
  • Apply standard formatting styles to documents.
  • Quality assurance and final reviews before document publication.

Requirements:

We are in a unique position where we need someone with skills across proofreading, technical editing, and graphic design. It’s a hybrid role for just the right person, with varying weekly hours. In addition to that, we are looking for people who are energised by our mission, align with our values, and have the desire to deliver sustainable impact. Our ideal candidates will exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Passion for technology and its role in sustainable development.
  • International perspective with a motivation to make a global impact.
  • Proficiency in a professional design program, particularly InDesign, is a benefit but not essential.
  • Proficiency in standard professional tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs and Slides, Canva).
  • Ability to edit in various English language types (e.g., Australian, American, Canadian, or British).
  • Excellent visual and verbal communication skills, and ability to present and explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain high standards of quality and consistency in design deliverables.
  • Ability to be self-directed and work in a remote setting.
  • Eager to have a high degree of ownership.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with a high tolerance for ambiguity.

We don’t just deliver reports, we partner for impact. In addition to a competitive rate of pay and enhanced flexibility, you’ll be part of a purpose-driven company and a global platform.
