As a Business Development Manager / Country Manager for a specialist digital health company, you'll be the first commercial hire in the UK, bringing an AI-powered operating room coordination platform that is already delivering measurable improvements in surgical efficiency across European hospitals to the NHS. You'll manage the full medical sales cycle from prospecting to close, targeting NHS and private hospitals with a focus on operating theatre and perioperative stakeholders. With no direct reports to begin with, you are the UK business, and this is a hunter role.
The AI-driven platform is already in active use in surgical departments across Europe, delivering significant improvements in operating room efficiency, theatre utilisation, and patient flow. You'll bring a proven solution to a market that needs it, backed by an established international team. Alongside winning new clients, you'll be getting the company onto relevant NHS procurement frameworks and feeding UK market intelligence back to product and leadership - essential for long-term commercial traction in the NHS surgical market.
Home-based with regular travel to hospitals across the UK, plus attendance at relevant trade shows and industry events.
COMPANY
A well-funded European digital health company with an established, growing customer base in the surgical sector. The mobile, subscription-based platform is used in real time by operating theatre teams and integrates with existing hospital IT systems. The culture is entrepreneurial and collaborative - this is a rare opportunity to shape the UK market and join a company with real momentum.
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven success in medical sales within the surgical or perioperative space, with hands-on knowledge of operating room workflows and the clinical environment. This is a specific requirement - experience in digital health outside of the perioperative setting is unlikely to be sufficient on its own.
- Likely three to five years of full medical sales cycle ownership with a surgical product solution, well-established NHS relationships and the ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder deals from first meeting to signature.
- You'll need to be highly self-motivated and comfortable building from scratch without a local support network.
- Previous experience as a Business Development Manager, Market Development Manager, or similar commercial lead is ideal; someone who has owned and grown a surgical market and managed the complete sales process from prospecting to close.
- Based in England, with a full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK without restriction. Suitable locations include (but are not limited to): London, Oxford, Bristol, Birmingham, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Cambridge, Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.
PACKAGE
Salary guide: base up to circa £65,000, with uncapped OTE taking total earnings to £100,000+, plus car allowance, pension, and benefits.
