About the Role
As we scale rapidly across new geographies and business lines, tax has never been more important to how we operate. We're looking for a Tax Accountant to sit at the heart of our Group Finance function — owning day-to-day global tax compliance, supporting our Group Tax Manager, and ensuring we're set up for growth wherever in the world we go next. This is a hands‑on role with genuine breadth: from UK VAT to international direct tax, transfer pricing to R&D credits, you'll touch it all.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own and maintain the global tax compliance calendar, tracking submissions across all jurisdictions and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.
- Act as the primary liaison with our external tax advisors — managing relationships, keeping deliverables on schedule, and ensuring all workproduct arrives in a review‑ready state for the Group Tax Manager.
- Prepare and perform first reviews of direct and indirect tax submissions for the UK and internationally, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and rigour.
- Work closely with advisors and the broader Finance team on statutory corporation tax provisions and returns, coordinating with the annual accounts and audit cycle.
- Prepare monthly tax accounting entries and ensure timely, accurate posting into the Group's financial records.
- Review intercompany recharges to ensure ongoing compliance with the Group's transfer pricing methodology.
- Support the tax workstream of international expansion projects — including registrations, filings, and local compliance requirements as we enter new markets.
- Assist with R&D tax credit applications across relevant jurisdictions, working with technical teams to identify and document qualifying activities.
- Contribute to broader tax projects including corporate structure optimisation, transfer pricing methodology reviews, utilisation of tax losses, M&A activity, and intercompany debt financing.
Who You Are
- Has worked within corporate tax environment or tax practice at public accounting firm.
- Prior experience of both corporation tax and indirect taxes is desirable.
- Highly organised, and has managed either internal teams or external advisors to achieve compliance objectives.
- Fully qualified accountant or tax professional with at least one year’s post‑qualification financial accounting experience.
- Competent working with complex data and proficient in Excel / Google Sheets.
- Experience with SageX3 is desirable but not mandatory.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to balance and prioritise multiple deliverables at one time, utilising available resources pragmatically to achieve desired goals.
