Role description

The Pharmacist Prescriber sits within MedExpress’s Clinical Team. In a fully remote environment, you will evaluate asynchronous patient consultations, issue prescriptions, and manage consultations in line with our protocols. This full‑time role requires working one weekend day per week (Saturday or Sunday).

Responsibilities

• Work remotely using our secure Electronic Health Records (EHR) system, ensuring confidential handling of patient information.
• Evaluate patient consultations in accordance with MedExpress medical protocols to determine safe prescription eligibility.
• Request additional information from patients when necessary to safely prescribe.
• Prescribe treatments within your competencies and record concise, comprehensive notes on patient records.
• Adhere to the designated rota, completing work efficiently and supporting the team to meet customer demand.
• Provide timely feedback on issues that impact work delivery.
• Follow operational protocols, such as correct use of on‑hold or rejection codes.
• Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
• Keep up to date with training materials, prescribing requirements, and independent training to maintain clinical competency.
• Support patients with advice on managing side effects, weight‑loss treatments, and other clinical matters via email and phone.
• Process GP letters by updating patient records with relevant information.
• Complete Patient Safety Incident (PSI) forms when appropriate.

Qualifications

• GPhC registration.
• Clinical knowledge and experience safely prescribing medications for minor ailments.
• Minimum 6 months of pharmacy experience.
• Experience working in a telemedicine environment.
• Experience prescribing according to established pathways/protocols.
• Familiarity with customer‑service tools such as Zendesk.
• Excellent attention to detail.
