Reporting to the Group Engineering leadership, the Controls & Remote Operations Lead plays a critical role in defining and governing engineering operating rules, system logic, and remote asset management across all Helios Towers markets. The role provides specialist leadership in configuration governance, system behaviour, and remote monitoring effectiveness, supporting performance optimisation and capability development across technical teams.

Role Responsibilities
- Define and maintain engineering operating rules for power and hybrid systems, including controller logic, remote‑operation behaviour, alarm classifications, escalation paths, and configuration governance required for a fully remotely configurable network.
- Ensure accurate engineering data and system behaviour across all sites by maintaining telemetry structures, validating signals, resolving configuration inconsistencies, and ensuring that 100% of sites are configured in line with engineering requirements to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Translate engineering logic into digital system requirements, working closely with the Digital & Information Technology teams to develop monitoring, automation, and remote‑control capabilities that enable the Network Operations Centre to operate sites remotely.
- Strengthen remote management and monitoring capability by improving fault interpretation, alarm prioritisation, event escalation, and system visibility, ensuring that remote intervention reduces unnecessary site visits and improves uptime.
- Drive continuous improvement and technical optimisation by providing validated engineering data and insights to support performance diagnostics, configuration compliance, investigations, and recommendations that improve site efficiency and return on invested capital (ROIC).
- Build technical capability across the organisation by training engineering, operations, monitoring, and digital teams on system logic, remote control behaviours, alarm interpretation, and configuration governance.
Requirements For The Role
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Control or Telecommunications Engineering (or related field).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret complex system behaviour.
- Experience with monitoring systems, automation tools or technical data analysis is beneficial.
- A strong background in power systems, hybrid systems, control systems, or remote operations.
- Demonstrable experience defining system logic, alarm behaviour, telemetry structures, or configuration governance.
- Proven ability to work effectively across engineering, digital technology, monitoring, and operations teams.
- Experience operating within multi‑country or multi‑site technical environments.
