Your Role:
You’ll work directly with top-tier biopharma teams to deploy Helical’s platform and uncover novel biology using Bio Foundation Models. From single-cell to bulk and RNA-seq data, you’ll help drive real-world breakthroughs in target ID, patient stratification, and RNA sequence design.
This is a fast-paced, high-ownership role. You’ll prototype with the latest AI models, move from concept to insight in days, and work closely with product and engineering to shape what we build next.

Requirements:
Essential
- MSc or PhD in Computational Biology or similar fields
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Hands-on experience with single-cell or bulk transcriptomic data
- Experience or at least exposure to single-cell foundation models (e.g. Geneformer, scGPT)
- Strong understanding of AI/ML tools (e.g. fine-tuning, …)
- Strong grasp of computational biology methods and best practices
- Excellent communicator — able to translate science across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Product-oriented mindset and eagerness to be customer-facing
- Passion for the intersection of biology and machine learning
- Obsessive about speed of iteration — you move extremely fast, learn what you don’t know on the fly, and never wait for perfect. This is the #1 criterion for joining Helical.
Nice to Have
- Industry experience in biotech/pharma (internal or customer-facing) or strong contributions to open-source computational biology projects
- Familiarity with Transformer architectures, SSMs, or Bayesian optimization
- Experience working in therapeutic or diagnostic development programs
