This role is responsible for the delivery and continuous improvement of CHC SMS systems and compliance monitoring activities across UK and wider operations. To provide regional operational safety and compliance support across three UK bases, focusing on ground & flight operations interfaces, dangerous goods compliance, and additional safety assurance as directed. The role strengthens frontline compliance, promotes a positive reporting culture, and supports risk management and learning to reduce operational risk and improve standards.

Working Pattern / Additional Information

  • Regional role with a mix of office and operational presence across UK bases.
  • Travel to European bases is expected for planned assurance activity and engagement (4 weeks/year).
  • Hybrid (WFH + site-based) remote work supported where suitable, but regular base presence is required across Aberdeen, Humberside and Norwich.

A visible safety advocate who will support and develop improvements in overall safety culture and behaviour. Conduct, lead, and coordinate team members to complete assigned audits in support of the compliance audit program to provide effective oversight of the operations. Investigate relevant accidents, incidents, and matters related to a specified area of expertise (Ground & Flight Operations), including analysis and development of recommendations to prevent recurrence. Deliver safety-related training to staff and management to improve understanding and performance of the SMS. Support local department managers to undertake specific safety-related activities such as Management of Change Risk Assessment, Corrective and Preventive Action (CPA) development, SQID transactions, and hosting external auditors (regulator, clients, etc.). Monitor all pertinent proactive and reactive safety reports and, where necessary, with relevant department managers to ensure appropriate support to deliver follow-up action is taken. Develop and update audit checklists, in collaboration with S&C Management, to align with company procedures, regulations, and customer requirements. Produce clear audit outputs (findings, observations, positive practice) and support action owners with realistic corrective actions and closure evidence. Actively contribute and cooperate toward continuous improvement initiatives and programs. Coordinate, update, and administer safety system infrastructure as directed to meet operational requirements. Develop effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders within the management teams and externally with regulators, clients, and industry affiliates. Provide periodic on-site S&C operational support in Europe (approx. 4 weeks/year) to support alignment, assurance activity, and learning transfer. Share lessons learned and good practices between UK bases and wider operations. Support internal and external audits/inspections (customer/regulator as applicable), including evidence packs and responses. Provide collection, collation, editing, and dissemination of safety information to promote safety awareness.

Required Qualifications (Education, Qualifications, Certifications)

  • Accredited training in Aviation Safety Management disciplines.
  • Auditor Accreditation to ISO9000 or aviation specific.
  • Incident Investigator qualification.
  • Have evidenced training within an aviation support function such as Logistics & Supply Chain, cabin crew, ground operations, flight operations, engineering workshop MRO, etc.
  • Experience supporting customer and/or regulatory operational audits.

Skills/Experience

  • Experience in aviation operations safety/compliance (rotary-wing desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of CAA/EASA regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience as an auditor or Lead Auditor.
  • Experience as part of or leading investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience in rotary wing offshore environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in fixed-wing charter or general aviation environments.
  • Experienced with Safety Management Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office software suite.
