Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid.
Liaising with partners, both internationally and in St.
Helena, you will secure our borders, protect the community, and enable economic development.
As you continue the transition from separate Customs and Immigration services to a combined Department, you must integrate all functions and services within the two teams.
Creating efficient procedures that balance security needs with policy objectives, you will set a direction and culture that builds public and organisational confidence and trust, leading to professional and efficient services.
You will develop and implement policies, procedures and training plans, managing the efficient and effective use of resources.
Holding a Level 5 or 6 degree qualification or equivalent, or with relevant experience, you have a substantial history as a senior manager within the UK Border Force or Customs or Immigration services, or equivalent in a UK Overseas Territory.
Experience in similar roles in other jurisdictions will also be considered.
Your up-to-date knowledge of customs and immigration issues is backed by experience of providing customs and/or immigrations services at airports and seaports.
You are a strong leader, inspiring others to deliver transformational projects and impactful results.
Planning and implementing change, you have developed and led high performing teams while analysing and interpreting information to resolve challenges.
You must be vetted to ‘Security Clearance’ level.
In addition, you must demonstrate our core values of fairness, integrity and teamwork and use your diverse expertise and experiences to ensure your time on the Island has the broadest benefit to St Helena.
As an officer funded through the Technical Co-Operation Programme you will be expected to share your knowledge and skills beyond the workplace contributing to workforce, community and capacity development in St Helena.
Annual Pension Contribution of 7.5% of salary Annual Leave of 30 days per annum plus Public Holidays Interviews will be held week commencing 24 August 2026.
