About the role
An exciting new role as part of the SOTL (Sport, Outdoor, Travel + Lifestyle) team enabling Osprey and Hydro Flask to expand into the Travel + Lifestyle Channel across EMEA as part of HELE’s Elevate for Growth strategy – a global focus brand/region/channel combination.
Providing relief for the Sport + Outdoor Team who have built a solid foundation, you will inherit a portfolio of customers and partners (Direct/Agent/Distributor) but also be tasked with opening new routes to market, with differing business models by region and tier – the main objective is to develop brand presence in key retailers to drive incremental sales across all channels.
Maximizing performance in terms of revenue, profitability, growing market share and improving distribution; you will create instore & online visibility for Osprey and Hydro Flask. This is a true leadership role, providing a central conduit across all functions in a fast growing vertical, key tasks aside from Account Management will be:
What you’ll do in the role
- You will need a clean driver’s license and be flexible to travel to visit client sites developing new relationships and maintaining existing ones for monthly updates meetings with retailers
- Provide continuous improvement and feedback to Senior Lead Team to define and enhance the Travel + Lifestyle strategy
- Managing Premium Lifestyle Consultancy/Agent(s) in defined regions
- Partnering with Sport + Outdoor Sales Team to create winning strategies to be deployed in their Distributor/Agent regions (e.g. where there is channel overlap)
- Be the Sales Lead at GTM/LR regarding Travel + Lifestyle Products
- Ensuring we have the right tools, assets and pitch decks to break into the channel(s)
- Creating bespoke Go to market plans in EMEA for each Travel + Lifestyle related Collab (Osprey focus)
- Looking at other incremental, emerging channels for both brands (e.g. Baby, Coffee, Electro, Bookstores etc)
Strategy development:
- Successfully implement Commercial Strategy to gain revenue and improve profitability
- Building Business Plans, define Must-Win SKU-Customer combinations and translate those into Customer Strategy & Implementation
- Defining and optimizing the preferred Go-to-Market model, considering changing market circumstances, business opportunities, brand portfolio, margins and retail pricing development
- Select and agree contracts with Distributors
- Recognize and develop new business opportunities to maximize short and long-term profit potential
- Category development planning and initiatives with Key Accounts
- Developing new segments of the product portfolio, not yet introduced to the market (if relevant for assigned region)
- Interface with European Sales and Marketing teams identifying needs, propose potential products and establish local plans to achieve targets in a timely manner
Sales Management:
- Translating strategy into action with accounts and distributors, resulting in annual business plans and contractual agreements
- Maximizing distribution, shelf presentation, visibility/impact (FMOT) and promotional effectiveness for the brands at Key Accounts and indirect at Key accounts managed by agents.
- Proposing marketing programs and follow up key customers
- Ensure execution by translation into action plans (4Ps: price, promotions, product, placement) are implemented in an appropriate manner by managing pre-defined KPI’s
- Annual planning with Key Accounts and follow up on agreed promotions and launches
- Converting annual agreements into internal ‘2-pager’ and on-going promo-price request forms. Ensure documents are always up to date and on-time shared with business partners
- Manage & Monitor KPI’s to meet Performance Commitment (Invoiced sales / gross profit / adjusted contribution margin)
- Taking ownership of the market, developing external and internal relationships within all areas.
- Train, Coach and develop agent network about new products, concepts and ensure proper follow-up in the field
- Oversee sales operations (logistics, ordering, quality) in close cooperation with Customer Service.
- Interfacing Sourcing & Regulatory and Quality, ensuring product availability
- Jointly developing category budgets for sign off at European HQ and deploy across the individual markets.
- Reviewing and updating these budgets on a quarterly basis, or as required by the business.
- Providing leadership to the (external) field reps
- Monthly KPI reporting to manager, solution driven in case necessary
- Accurately Forecast the business (SKU level) (Price & Volume) ensuring availability
What will help you do the job well
Essential:
- University degree in Business/Finance or equivalent
- Full knowledge of cost, profit/loss, and excellent planning skills are required
- Oracle knowledge or sales database experience is an asset (but not necessary)
- Digital/e-commerce experience
- Demonstrable expertise in business development, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written), French a plus
- Excitement about joining a midsize yet growing company with fast-growing brands!
Nice to have:
- 5-7 years’ experience in account/sales/distributor management within an FMCG, Travel, Outdoor or Lifestyle/Fashion environment. Preferably with Blue Chip companies dealing with key e-retailers.
- Proven track record successfully working in the Travel + Lifestyle channel is an advantage.
- Excellent knowledge of the Retail/Distributor scene
