What you will be doing
As the Amazon & Marketplace Sales Director EMEA at Helen of Troy, you will be a pivotal leader responsible for leading Amazon and Marketplace business initiatives to achieve strategic growth objectives across all Helen of Troy brands in EMEA.
Reporting directly to the Senior Director Online EMEA, you will lead and mentor a dedicated Commercial team to execute a robust Amazon and Marketplace strategy. Your remit covers leading the established Amazon and Zalando business across all Helen of Troy brands, while also leading the exploration and scaling of emerging marketplaces, including Social Commerce channels such as TikTok Shop, for select brands. The role encompasses end‑to‑end ownership of the Amazon/Marketplace P&L, including strategy formulation, negotiation, relationship management and team leadership.
Furthermore, the role demands significant collaboration with the local and global Helen of Troy teams and senior stakeholders to ensure sufficient resource‑allocation and a wider understanding of the role Amazon and Marketplaces play in the EMEA Online business and strategy.
Responsibilities
Amazon & Marketplace Strategy Development
- Collaborating closely with the Senior Director Online EMEA to formulate a comprehensive Amazon and Marketplace strategy aligned with the broader online business objectives.
- Defining clear roles, positioning and strategy for each channel, established (Amazon, Zalando) and emerging (Social Commerce, Marketplaces), and how each contributes to brand and category growth.
- Leveraging industry insights, market trends, and channel‑specific analytics to refine and adapt the strategy for maximum impact. This includes ownership of the 3‑5 yr strategic plan.
Emerging Channels & Marketplaces
- Lead the exploration, testing and scaling of emerging marketplaces and Social Commerce channels (e.g. TikTok Shop) for select brands. Build the business case, define the operating model and success metrics, and establish clear ways of working that distinguish emerging‑channel activity from the established Amazon and Zalando business.
Negotiations and Relationship Management
- Assume ownership of negotiations with Amazon, Zalando and other marketplace and e‑Tail partners, striving for favorable terms, pricing, and collaboration opportunities. Foster and maintain strong relationships with marketplace counterparts, ensuring alignment and mutual success.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead a team of 4 direct reports, providing clear direction, coaching, and mentoring to drive high performance. Cultivate a collaborative team culture that promotes innovation, growth, and continuous improvement.
Financial Performance and Analysis
- Own the financial performance of the Amazon and Marketplace business segment, tracking revenue, margins, and profitability. Analyze sales data, market trends, and performance metrics to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee day‑to‑day operations related to Amazon and marketplace channels, ensuring product listings, inventory management, and order fulfillment are executed seamlessly. Implement processes that optimize operational efficiency and enhance customer experience.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance, to ensure alignment and synergy across business functions.
Continuous Improvement
- Proactively identify areas for improvement across the Amazon and Marketplace business segment, suggesting and implementing enhancements to drive results. Develop and execute strategic key account plans ensuring long‑term partnerships.
Skills needed to be successful in this role
- Strong negotiation skills with proven experience in handling complex negotiations with Amazon or similar e‑commerce giants.
- Exceptional leadership skills with experience of managing and developing high‑performing teams.
- Solid financial acumen, ability to manage P&Ls, and analyze sales data.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies. Preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- University Degree in Business, Marketing or equivalent.
- Solid experience in managing / growing consumer sales accounts within the EU.
- 10+ years in related experience, Amazon and Social Marketing Strategy.
- Authorized to work in the UK on a full‑time basis.
