About the role

As a Maintenance Development Engineer, you will be a vital part of our operational team, ensuring production schedules are met by defining and implementing best‑in‑class maintenance strategies.

You’ll work across Production, Packaging, and Utilities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements while driving performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement asset maintenance plans and long‑term strategies, based on asset condition, industry best practice and HEINEKEN Standards, to meet performance targets and compliance standards.
  • Lead AM (Standard Improvement Teams) to optimise and standardise maintenance plans, and manage changes within your area to minimise operational risks (safety, quality and reliability).
  • Ensure safe working practices, food safety and quality standards are embedded in daily maintenance activities, including support for the instrument calibration process.
  • Support the identification and transfer of basic maintenance tasks to operations by coaching and supporting TPM AM teams, including quality inspection and Q‑points.
  • Support Shift Maintenance Technicians with breakdown and minor stop analysis, through to implementation of countermeasures that prevent reoccurrence and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Drive technical support and coaching for Operators and Shift Maintenance Technicians, contributing to workforce capability within the team.
  • Execute maintenance standards (HACS) on time and in full, optimising them through a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Benchmark maintenance strategies internally and externally to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and build strong relationships with key service providers.
  • Lead investment proposals to enhance reliability, lower costs and ensure compliance.
  • Align and coordinate with Production and the wider Engineering team, representing maintenance in production meetings where required.
  • Support the implementation and use of the CMMS, keeping asset and spare parts master data accurate, and use the maintenance KPI dashboard to monitor and report on strategy performance.

Qualifications & experience

  • Strong experience with high‑speed process/packaging machinery, ideally in FMCG.
  • In‑depth knowledge of modern maintenance techniques (FMECA, RCM).
  • Proven problem‑solving skills using LEAN, TPM, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to drive change, implement improvements, and work collaboratively across teams.
