A respected and long-established organisation is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join its friendly and supportive finance team. Employing approximately 120 staff and generating annual turnover in the region of Β£45 million, the business has built a strong reputation over many years and enjoys a significant presence across the North of England. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who enjoys a varied accounts role and takes pride in delivering accurate financial information within a busy commercial environment.
Working as part of a small but highly effective finance team of three, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of a successful and growing organisation.
The OpportunityWorking closely with the wider finance team, you'll support a broad range of accounting activities, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the finance department. Responsibilities will include:
- Purchase ledger and sales ledger processing
- Bank reconciliations and cash management
- Weekly payment runs and BACS processing
- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Supporting month-end and year-end activities
- Assisting with audit preparation
- Handling finance-related queries from colleagues and external contacts
- Supporting ongoing system and process improvements
- Providing general accounting and administrative support as required
We are keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger or similar role
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A proactive and positive approach to work
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Competence using accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- A willingness to learn, develop and contribute ideas for improving processes
