Purpose of the role
The primary responsibilities are to ensure the efficient and safe operation daily of the quarry, the safe use of mobile plant and effective running of the static crushing plant to meet the day-to-day production demands to support Padeswood Cement works daily raw feed requirements. You are required to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, as well as possessing good communication and organisational skills to support other members of the quarry team to meet the day-to-day requirements for this fast-moving quarrying operation.
Following a strict adherence to undertaking all tasks in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Quarry Regulations 1999, as well as following all company policies and guidelines is expected, with a special focus on health and safety, quality, and environmental procedures. Furthermore, close collaboration with fellow employees is crucial to ensure the efficient performance of production processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completion of inspection checklists prior to, during, and after operating any piece of mobile equipment and the crushing plant, ensuring that any defects identified are reported appropriately.
- Cooperation and support for other quarry team members, contractors, hauliers, and visitors if a safety issue arises.
- Operation, inspection, and maintenance of static and mobile plant equipment for load and haul, processing, and materials handling, prioritising safety and efficiency.
- Ensuring high standards of housekeeping are maintained to improve working conditions.
Key Accountability
- Carry out tasks and operate plant and equipment safely, in accordance with site safety procedures (SOPs, Risk Assessments, etc.).
- Report near hits and incidents.
- Respond and report any breaches of environmental standards.
- Be aware of the implications of your actions and those of others on the safety of others and the quality of the product.
- Liaise with other team members in assessing priorities in light of changing circumstances.
- Seek advice or assistance from others where appropriate in meeting objectives.
