Are you passionate about quality, safety, and making a real impact in the construction materials industry? Heidelberg Materials UK is looking for a dedicated Quality Control Technician to join our technical team and ensure our concrete and aggregate products meet the highest standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Testing & Quality Control: Conduct field and lab tests on concrete and aggregates (slump, compressive strength, etc.) Ensure compliance with ASTM, BS EN, and local standards Analyse data and produce detailed reports
- Material Inspection: Inspect raw materials (cement, sand, limestone, admixtures) Monitor deliveries and verify against specifications
- Supervision & Mentorship: Guide junior technicians and review test results Share technical expertise and training
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, calibration records, and databases Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety protocols and regulatory standards Actively report near misses and ensure safe working practices
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with contractors and quality managers Conduct site visits and sample collection Uphold the EDF Code of Conduct for Sizewell C
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures
- Liaise with contractors and internal teams to meet customer expectations
- Report any defects or issues affecting product quality or safety
- Maintain site cleanliness, security, and professional standards
- Support investigations into product issues and site practices
- Challenge unsafe or non-compliant behaviours
- Transport test specimens as required
What You'll Need
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance
- Level 1 Award Training
- CSCS certification for construction sites
- Triple Bar Nuclear New Build qualification
- NVQ qualification in a relevant field
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
