Location: Batts Combe Quarry, Cheddar
Salary: Competitive Starting Salary + Weekly Bonus + Overtime Opportunities
Hours: 39.5 hours per week | 5:45am - 4:45pm | Overtime Available

Are you looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Quarry Operative to join our team at Batts Combe Quarry.

No previous quarry experience is required. We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable individuals with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Full training will be provided, along with the opportunity to develop into a Multi-Skilled Operative , gaining experience across both mobile and static plant operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a varied role that combines customer interaction, administration, and operational support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating the quarry weighbridge for all incoming and outgoing vehicles.

  • Processing delivery tickets, sales orders, customer accounts, and waste transfer documentation accurately.

  • Providing a professional and welcoming experience for drivers, customers, contractors, and visitors.

  • Working closely with supervisors, transport providers, and site teams to support efficient operations.

  • Maintaining accurate records and administrative systems.

  • Ensuring vehicle compliance and site access requirements are met.

  • Reporting safety concerns, incidents, and near misses promptly.

  • Supporting general site administration and operational activities as required.

  • Following all Heidelberg Materials Health & Safety, Environmental, and Compliance procedures.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who is organised, dependable, and eager to learn.

You will ideally have:

  • Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems.

  • Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A positive attitude and willingness to develop new skills.

  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.

  • Previous experience in a weighbridge, logistics, transport, administration, or customer service role would be beneficial, but is not essential.
