We are looking for a reliable and hardworking General Operative to join our team at Heidelberg Materials. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you will support the safe and efficient running of site operations, working with both mobile and static plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate mobile and static plant (where certificated), following all site procedures
  • Carry out general maintenance work across the site as required
  • Support operations on the main processing plant in line with Site Management direction
  • Maintain plant equipment, including refuelling, greasing, and cleaning, in line with manufacturer and company guidelines
  • Ensure all plant is operated efficiently and economically
  • Complete daily inspection checks of mobile plant and record findings accurately
  • Report any faults, defects, or issues to the General Foreman promptly
  • Participate in site safety initiatives, including completing near miss reports
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and site cleanliness

About You

  • Experience operating mobile or static plant (desirable)
  • Relevant plant tickets/certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong commitment to health & safety
  • Practical, hands‑on approach with good problem‑solving skills
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team
  • Good communication and basic record‑keeping skills
