Do you enjoy solving mechanical problems and keeping equipment running smoothly? We’re looking for a Fitter to join our team. You’ll be responsible for inspections, maintenance, and supporting plant operations—helping us stay safe, efficient and reliable.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance in line with schedules and procedures
- Conduct daily inspections, identify faults, and take corrective action to reduce breakdowns
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and near hits
- Support electrical and production departments when required
- Participate in planned shutdowns and provide out-of-hours breakdown cover on a rota basis
- Supervise contractors and ensure safe working practices
- Maintain workshops, equipment, and facilities to high standards
- Ensure proper isolation procedures are followed
- Assist with plant improvements and development projects
- Provide holiday and sickness cover for plant operators, including sampling, cleaning, and deputising for the Miller
- Work at other Heidelberg Materials sites as needed
- Ensure correct storage and handling of oils, lubricants, and gases
- Identify and respond to spillages and maintain clean, safe work areas
- Recognised apprenticeship in mechanical or welding/fabrication disciplines
- Strong fault‑finding and preventative maintenance skills
- Solid understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Familiarity with electrical isolation and permitting procedures
- Systematic approach to problem‑solving and planning
