This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly influential role at the forefront of water management, biodiversity and sustainable land use across Heidelberg Materials UK. As Water & Land Advisor you’ll act as the business’s expert voice on environmental compliance and sustainability strategy ensuring we not only meet regulatory expectations, but stay ahead of them. You’ll influence decision-making across multiple business lines, driving real impact on how we manage natural resources, protect ecosystems and deliver against ambitious sustainability targets.
The Role
- Lead on water management and regulatory compliance across all UK sites, ensuring full alignment with EA, NRW and legislative requirements.
- Provide expert guidance on emerging environmental legislation, translating change into action across the business.
- Drive improvements in biodiversity, land use and natural capital, supporting delivery of sustainability commitments.
- Partner with operational, SHE and LMR teams to ensure consistent, practical compliance across the business.
- Represent Heidelberg Materials UK externally, influencing and contributing to key industry groups such as the MPA.

What You Bring
- Experience within the minerals, construction or a similar regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of the UK environmental regulatory framework.
- Expertise across water, biodiversity and land use sustainability topics.
- Experience with ISO14001 or environmental management systems.
- Ability to interpret legislation and translate it into practical business action.
- Confidence engaging with regulators, stakeholders and industry bodies.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong communication skills.
