Are you passionate about quality, safety, and making a real impact in the construction materials industry? Heidelberg Materials UK is looking for a dedicated Quality Control Technician to join our technical team and ensure our concrete and aggregate products meet the highest standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Testing & Quality Control: Conduct field and lab tests on concrete and aggregates (slump, compressive strength, etc.), ensure compliance with ASTM, BS EN, and local standards, analyse data and produce detailed reports.
  • Material Inspection: Inspect raw materials (cement, sand, limestone, admixtures), monitor deliveries and verify against specifications.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Guide junior technicians and review test results, share technical expertise and training.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs, calibration records, and databases, prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety protocols and regulatory standards, actively report near misses and ensure safe working practices.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with contractors and quality managers, conduct site visits and sample collection, uphold the EDF Code of Conduct for Sizewell C.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
  • Liaise with contractors and internal teams to meet customer expectations.
  • Report any defects or issues affecting product quality or safety.
  • Maintain site cleanliness, security, and professional standards.
  • Support investigations into product issues and site practices.
  • Challenge unsafe or non-compliant behaviours.
  • Transport test specimens as required.

What You’ll Need

  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental compliance.
  • Level 1 Award Training.
  • CSCS certification for construction sites.
  • Triple Bar Nuclear New Build qualification.
  • NVQ qualification in a relevant field.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
