As the site’s Electrical Duty Holder, you’ll be the go‐to technical authority for all EC&I activity — ensuring the plant is safe, compliant, and consistently available to support operational performance.
You will:
- Be the legal Electrical Duty Holder for the site, ensuring all systems meet statutory and internal safety standards.
- Act as the expert authority on EC&I systems, guaranteeing safe maintenance and maximum plant availability.
- Work cross‐functionally with mechanical and operations teams to plan strategic preventive and reactive maintenance that meets commercial KPIs.
- Lead and mentor a skilled team of electricians and EC&I technicians — managing schedules, safe systems of work, and the 24/7 call‐out rota.
- Oversee contractors and manage EC&I contract requirements, ensuring high quality and cost‐effective services.
- Drive the development of the CMMS to align with O&M manuals and bespoke plant requirements.
- Manage installation, testing, operation and optimisation of monitoring and machine protection systems.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve EC&I faults across the plant.
- Oversee minor installation and phased upgrade works.
- Administer and maintain plant control systems, including fault-finding, updates and system back-ups.
- Plan and deliver complex outages to support operational needs.
- Own and control the EC&I OPEX/AOP budget alongside the site management team.
- Manage critical spare parts inventory to guarantee uptime.
- Champion energy‐saving initiatives and help steer the business toward net‐zero operations.
- Maintain compliance with evolving legislation, including BS7671 and BS6626, always pushing continuous improvement.
A forward‐thinking EC&I professional with:
- Strong technical expertise across industrial electrical & control systems.
- Experience as a duty holder or similar high‐responsibility role.
- Confidence managing teams, contractors and budgets.
- A proactive mindset and passion for operational excellence.
- The drive to innovate and contribute to sustainability goals.
- Experienced in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical distribution systems from 110V up to 11kV, including LV final circuits, MCCs, motor control systems, HV switchgear, LV/HV motors, VSDs and HV transformers.
- Ability to act as the site HV Senior Authorised Person (SAP).
