Mechanical Maintenance Fitter – Cement Production Location: Teesside Hours: 40 per week Salary: £35,828
Are you a hands-on mechanical fitter with a passion for keeping heavy industry running smoothly? Join our team and play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our cement production plant.
As part of our Maintenance Team, you\’ll be central to delivering our Heidelberg Materials Cement Maintenance Improvement Plan, ensuring plant equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. You\’ll carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, support inspections, and help drive continuous improvement across the site.
What You\’ll Be Doing
- Perform planned, preventive, and reactive maintenance on production equipment
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble conveyors, rollers, pumps, motors, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics
- Conduct mechanical fault finding and take corrective action
- Use workshop tools including lathes, milling machines, and drill presses
- Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as needed
- Operate lifting and pulling gear safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate documentation and support SAP-based maintenance systems
- Ensure all work complies with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) standards
- Experience and understanding of mechanical fitting and maintenance of equipment including compressed air generation and distribution, process lines, vessels, conveyors, pumps, pipes, valves, filter systems, milling, pneumatics hydraulics bearings, gear boxes etc.
- Welding and burning for fabrication and maintenance .
- Mechanical fault finding and ability to take suitable action.
- Experience of heavy/chemical industry manufacturing plants.
What You\’ll Bring
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Maintenance or equivalent
- Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship
- Experience in heavy industry or chemical manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of compressed air systems, valves, filter systems, and process lines
- Proficiency in SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- A proactive, safety-first mindset and strong team communication skills
