Working at one of the largest quarries in the U.K, the Shift Maintenance Electrician is responsible for ensuring that electrical systems and equipment are functioning properly. Their job involves inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electrical components to prevent downtime and ensure a safe, reliable plant. Additionally, they may be involved in installing new electrical systems and troubleshooting electrical issues as they arise.

- Hours: 42.5 hours - 4 on 4 off shifts (0600-0600/1000-2200 Mon-Fri & 0600-1800 Sat/Sun)
Role and Responsibilities
- Perform start-up and shut-down routines, maximizing throughput within the plant's capacity.
- Maintain and repair fixed plant equipment, keeping accurate records as per management requirements, following manufacturer and Heidelberg Materials guidelines.
- Carry out planned maintenance and inspections, supporting installation of electrical assets and systems.
- Operate, inspect, and maintain processing equipment to meet productivity targets and KPIs.
- Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping, supporting 5S initiatives.
- Operate machine tools and equipment safely, adhering to regulations and manufacturer guidance.
- Travel to other Heidelberg Materials sites within reasonable distance, with transport or travel allowances as applicable.
- Train and supervise Apprentice Maintenance Technicians.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain and repair static plant safely and efficiently.
- Keep static plant in good condition through cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and lubricating according to recommendations.
- Use site CMMS to record work activities and conditions.
- Report problems or defects to supervisors.
- Complete risk assessments and near-hit reports as required.
- Operate plant and machinery energy-efficiently.
- Ensure good timekeeping and comply with company procedures.
- Assist in implementing and commissioning capital projects.
LV/HV Installations
- Support electrical maintenance strategies, perform PPM checks, and document findings.
- Maintain and repair LV & HV systems, including switchgear, panelboards, MCCs, and DBs.
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical motors and starters, understanding motor alignment and condition monitoring.
Instrumentation Systems
- Knowledge of process instrumentation and calibration of various sensors and analyzers.
Control and Safety Systems
- Work with safety-critical control systems and interlocks.
- Basic understanding of PLC automation, bus systems, SCADA, and troubleshooting PLC systems.
