Join Our Team as a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (HawkAI) at Hawk-Eye Innovations.
Location: Hybrid working – minimum 2 days per week in the office. Office: Budapest, Váci út 144-150, 1138 Hungary. Contract: Permanent, Full-Time.
At Hawk-Eye, we build technology that powers some of the most exciting and critical moments in sport, from instant replays and broadcast augmentation to officiating systems trusted by leagues, federations, broadcasters, and millions of fans worldwide.
Our HawkAI team builds the foundational machine learning infrastructure that powers the future of sports intelligence. This is a build-from-zero role designed to bridge the gap between machine learning engineering and real-world application. You will be responsible for building the first-pass applications and services that sit on top of the HawkAI Engine, translating cutting-edge ML models and data pipelines into working, demonstrable software. If you thrive on autonomy, rapid execution, and leveraging modern AI-assisted workflows to build products from scratch, this is where you belong.
We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer who can comfortably navigate the entire stack to get credible first versions into the hands of users. You won't be handed a fully scoped brief; instead, you’ll work closely with ML engineers to figure out what a credible first pass looks like, making high-leverage architectural choices and proving out new product opportunities.
What You'll Be Doing
- Build-from-Zero Applications: Move across the entire stack to design, build, and deploy the first working software applications and services powered by the HawkAI Engine.
- Bridge ML and Product: Translate complex ML models and real-time data pipelines into responsive, high-throughput APIs and intuitive user interfaces.
- AI-Accelerated Development: Maximise your build velocity by deeply integrating modern AI-assisted and agentic development tools into your day-to-day workflow, while retaining strict human oversight on software architecture and data integrity.
- Real-Time Visualization: Design and implement high-performance interfaces to stream and visualize 2D sports data with minimal latency.
- End-to-End Delivery: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of early-stage applications, from cloud infrastructure (AWS) and CI/CD deployment to frontline delivery.
What We're Looking For
- Versatile Full-Stack Expertise: Broad hands-on experience moving fluidly across backend, frontend, and deployment, specifically with Java, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python, and modern responsive web technologies (HTML5/CSS3).
- AWS & Infrastructure: Demonstrated experience designing, building, and deploying end-to-end cloud solutions on AWS infrastructure.
- CI/CD & DevOps: Proven capability deploying production-ready CI/CD pipelines using Docker and GitHub Actions.
- Data Streaming & 2D Rendering: Experience streaming, processing, and visualising dynamic data using 2D rendering engine tools.
- ML Integration: Experience building APIs and microservices that integrate directly with ML models, keeping latency and throughput constraints front-of-mind.
- Pragmatic Quality: The ability to write high-quality, testable, and maintainable code that accounts for edge cases, even when executing at high speeds.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with 2D rendering libraries like PixiJS or mobile frameworks like React Native.
- Hands-on experience with AWS SageMaker, AWS Bedrock, SQL, Redis/Valkey, or infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
- Familiarity with building or working alongside agentic AI systems.
What This Role Is Not
- Not an ML Engineering Role: You will work directly with ML engineers, but your focus is building product services on top of their models.
- Not a Fixed Roadmap Role: You won't execute against rigid specs; a key part of your initial phase is defining what the product should actually be.
- Not a Management Role: This is a dedicated, high-impact individual contributor position.
- Not a Long-Term Maintenance Role: You focus on turning 0 to 1; once opportunities are proven, dedicated teams scale and maintain them.
Hungary Benefits
- Annual Leave: Standard according to local labour law.
- Flexible Working: Hybrid model (2 days in our Budapest office per week).
- Access to Sporting Events: Priority access and tickets to major sporting events.
- Sony Group Discounts: Generous discounts across Sony Group products and services.
- Other Benefits: Flexible Cafeteria options (SZÉP Card, Nursery & Kindergarten contributions, Annual MOL Bubi Pass), Private Medical Insurance, Life & Accident Insurance, MindentMent Dental Clinic discounts, Seniority Awards, and an Employee Assistance Program.
