Specific Job Overview

This critical role sits within the Tennis Management Team, maintaining a strong focus on people, scalable growth, and operational excellence to drive and execute our overarching departmental strategy and deliver on our mission of bringing innovations to every court.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership of the operations team with a sharp focus on resourcing and successful event delivery.
  • Take ownership of the overarching staffing processes, communication, and scheduling framework for tennis.
  • Play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the department, providing high-level input and overseeing the execution of business growth strategies.
  • Maintain a long-lens view (12+ months ahead) on global resources, forecasting initial scheduling and resourcing decisions.
  • Champion the people within the Tennis department, ensuring they feel valued while generating a positive, healthy culture throughout the team.
  • Act as a senior point of escalation for operational matters, providing leadership and mentorship to guide others through complex challenges.
  • Oversee the strategic planning and resourcing for tennis events, establishing robust operational teams for handover to Project Managers.
  • Drive cost and process optimisation by challenging existing models and operational norms.
  • Collaborate directly with the Programme Manager on new product rollouts to forecast future resources, engaging multiple pillars to fully understand the future tennis landscape.
  • Partner strategically with the Training and Development Manager to drive the progression of staff through established pathways.
  • Co-lead weekly Operations stand-ups alongside the GM to keep all delivery pillars perfectly aligned.

  • Serve as the central operational leader for the department, bringing a sharp focus to resource management and successful event delivery.
  • Cultivate strategic synergy between the Operations and Projects teams, ensuring comprehensive alignment between resourcing frameworks and on-the-ground project deliverables.
  • Create a clean, scalable, and repeatable operational blueprint that can support rapid business growth and expansion across new tours or regions.
  • Ensure a sustainable working model for the team, balancing working commitments to drive operator experience and long-term staff retention.
  • Identify ways to increase profit and event-level financial efficiencies by thinking outside the box, challenging existing models, and reducing costs over long-term contracts.
  • Keep the long-term vision in mind when iteratively updating, refreshing, and building out processes that pinpoint and improve department procedures.

  • Proven experience in senior operational leadership, with a strong ability to fill a critical leadership layer to line manage, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional conflict resolution skills, with the resilience to act as a definitive point of escalation for complex resourcing disputes.
  • Strategic forecasting mindset with the ability to look 12+ months ahead to plan capacity, forecast resource needs, and identify future skill gaps.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with a track record of driving financial efficiency and optimising P&L impact at the event level.
  • Forward-thinking ability to challenge the status quo and design creative logistical solutions, such as implementing permanent infrastructure strategies to optimise operational delivery.
  • Outstanding cross-functional communication, adept at seamlessly linking technical product rollouts to tangible operational and training delivery.
  • Excellent organisational skills, balancing day-to-day oversight with continuous process improvement and long-term strategic vision.
