The Junior People & Development Business Partner is key in supporting the Senior People & Development Business Partner and Group Director of People & Development in creating an inclusive, diverse and thriving culture that aligns with our company values: Drive, Guest Focus, Standards Focus, Teamwork, Communication & Commitment. This role partners closely with Hotel Managers and leadership teams to ensure organisational effectiveness, robust talent pipelines, and a culture that supports business priorities.
As a core member of the People Leadership team, the Junior People & Development Business Partner supports to impact both strategic and operational HR, driving continuous improvement across the business.
A little taste of your day-to-day
- Acting as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, ensuring cases are managed with fairness, consistency, and in line with employment law and best practice.
- Embed end-to-end People service delivery across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contractual changes, absence management, offboarding, benefits administration and HRIS administration – with support of the HR & Payroll Administrator.
- Drive excellence in service performance, automation, simplification, and process scalability across the People function.
- Support to develop and implement talent and organizational effectiveness strategies that support growth, change, and transformation across Heeton UK.
- Support with the design and rollout of HR initiatives, policies, and processes tailored for Heeton UK disciplines and in alignment with IHG standards, ensuring compliance and local relevance.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration and team excellence, supporting in building a purpose-driven, high-performing People function and high performing culture across Heeton UK.
- Recognize contributions and celebrate successes to foster a culture of appreciation and high achievement through our reward & recognition platform, Heeton Rewards, and our annual Heeton UK Star Awards.
- Support in driving the Talent Acquisition Strategy for Heeton UK in line with the business objectives.
- Partner with the leadership teams to attract, select, and onboard top talent, ensuring succession plans and talent pools are robust.
- Support in delivering programs to support an inclusive culture and career advancement opportunities for all, building clear career pathways and succession planning.
- Communicate total compensation philosophy to the business, providing education and support on pay, incentives, and benefits.
- Build capability across Leaders to handle performance, capability, and conduct issues confidently, mitigating any risk to the business.
- Advocate for Health and Wellbeing initiatives to support employees’ personal and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, GDPR, and company policies through regular audits and record management.
- Encourage and support leaders to build relationships with the local community, charities, and local schools through our CSR agenda with engagement initiatives and supporting charitable events.
What we need from you
- CIPD qualification is a distinct advantage but not essential.
- Experience of working within a hospitality environment is an advantage but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality and engaging PowerPoint presentations and comfortable hosting in person and virtual meetings for large groups of people.
- Experience in Regional HR Management.
- Experience in managing ER cases and working knowledge of UK Employment Law.
- Be confident and skilled in training, developing and coaching at all levels.
- Be creative, and have strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- You will be positive and proactive, and confident working on your own initiative in a fast-paced environment, having the ability to prioritise and work to challenging deadlines.
- You will be agile and comfortable dealing with varied priorities.
