As a Kitchen Assistant, you will carry out all the cleaning in the kitchen and assist with the preparation of food. Your day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Cleaning designated areas, complying with statutory and company hygiene requirements, including floors, counters, shelves, fixtures and fittings, and walls up to 1.8m.
- Cleaning all equipment, complying with statutory and company hygiene requirements and safety standards.
- Ensuring that all items are stored correctly, in terms of temperature, humidity and shelf life, and that no food items are stored on the floor.
- Reporting any faults or defects to management, paying particular attention to any safety or health hazard.
- Ensuring correct stock rotation and that issues are effected on a first in, first out basis.
- Reporting any suspicious packages or parcels to management without delay.
- Preparing, cooking and serving breakfast, lunch and evening meals to Doubletree by Hilton brand standards.
- Restocking the breakfast buffet to ensure our guests always have adequate supplies.
- Assisting with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring correct rotation (FIFO) and stock control.
- Participating in any fire or evacuation drills and ensuring complete familiarisation with all exits, including those normally used by customers as well as fire escapes.
- Maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress.
- Complying with all statutory and legal requirements.
What we need from you:
- Be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of customer service.
- Strong - sometimes you will need to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg). This can involve bending and kneeling.
- Literate - you will need a good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths.
- Flexible - night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job.
- Basic cooking knowledge and a genuine interest in food.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience within a kitchen environment.
- Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
