Hilton is the world's most recognised hospitality brand and is the largest upscale operator of hotels in Greater London. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team at the Doubletree by Hilton London Kensington; a prestigious 4-star property in bustling Kensington.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will carry out all the cleaning in the kitchen and assist with the preparation of food. Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning designated areas, complying with statutory and company hygiene requirements, including floors, counters, shelves, fixtures and fittings, and walls up to 1.8m.
  • Cleaning all equipment, complying with statutory and company hygiene requirements and safety standards.
  • Ensuring that all items are stored correctly, in terms of temperature, humidity and shelf life, and that no food items are stored on the floor.
  • Reporting any faults or defects to management, paying particular attention to any safety or health hazard.
  • Ensuring correct stock rotation and that issues are effected on a first in, first out basis.
  • Reporting any suspicious packages or parcels to management without delay.
  • Preparing, cooking and serving breakfast, lunch and evening meals to Doubletree by Hilton brand standards.
  • Restocking the breakfast buffet to ensure our guests always have adequate supplies.
  • Assisting with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring correct rotation (FIFO) and stock control.
  • Participating in any fire or evacuation drills and ensuring complete familiarisation with all exits, including those normally used by customers as well as fire escapes.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of personal hygiene and dress.
  • Complying with all statutory and legal requirements.

What we need from you:

  • Be courteous and focused on providing a consistently high standard of customer service.
  • Strong - sometimes you will need to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg). This can involve bending and kneeling.
  • Literate - you will need a good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths.
  • Flexible - night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job.
  • Basic cooking knowledge and a genuine interest in food.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
  • The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience within a kitchen environment.
  • Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
