With a strong focus on engineering excellence, collaboration, and energy efficiency, our client is looking to strengthen their Durham team with an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead and deliver high-calibre design projects from concept through to completion.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the design, coordination, and technical delivery of electrical building services projects. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients, taking ownership of project stages, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring design integrity and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the design and development of electrical systems including LV distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarms, and security systems.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, calculations, and specifications in line with project requirements.
- Manage the delivery of electrical design packages from concept through detailed design and construction stages.
- Conduct and oversee site inspections, surveys, and commissioning reviews.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, architectural, and structural teams to ensure full design integration.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior and intermediate engineers.
- Lead internal design reviews and ensure quality control and compliance with BS standards and Building Regulations.
- Contribute to energy-efficient, sustainable, and low-carbon design strategies.
- Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to maintain high levels of communication and satisfaction.
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of BS standards, IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition), and UK Building Regulations.
- Proficient in Amtech, AutoCAD, and Dialux/Relux (Revit experience advantageous).
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards Chartership (IET/CIBSE).
