Join Hedyn's Maintenance team and help keep our residents' homes safe, warm, and well maintained. As a Multi Skilled Heating Engineer , you'll undertake a variety of gas servicing, heating and plumbing repairs, and maintenance works across both occupied and void properties, delivering high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Gas Engineer with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills who enjoys working independently while being part of a supportive team. *A full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role
Specifically, in the role you will:
Undertake tasks within the scope of the primary trade with a low degree of supervision to a high standard to meet time frames set by the Supervisor.
To undertake heating engineering and plumbing duties including reactive repairs, servicing of boilers and fires, associated works as directed by the line manager(s).
To advise on all matters relating to gas heating and plumbing repairs, inspection and testing works
To complete all relevant training and certifications as required by regulations
To maintain regular contact with line manager and colleagues to obtain instructions and resolve working problems.
To record completed works, and maintain accurate record of work carried out including measurements and calculations and submit paperwork in format that meets the requirements of rules of gas registration for Hedyn and individual engineer(s)
To assist the Gas and Compliance Teams to ensure the gas heating and plumbing services are delivered in accordance with the Association's relevant policies and procedures
Being accountable for producing a high standard of work and delivering excellent service to our residents.
To suggest technical solutions to defects or installation scenarios when they may arise.
Assist colleagues in undertaking repair and maintenance tasks as and when required to ensure that work schedules are met.
Apply knowledge and skills to record and report on status and condition of fixtures and fittings within properties.
To report issues of poor property condition or living conditions to the Supervisor.
To interpret verbal and written instructions, to overcome issues, finding practical solutions to problems you may encounter.
To maintain regular contact with line manager, CCT and colleagues to obtain instructions and resolve working problems.
Estimate, order and recommend the purchase of necessary materials to ensure that appropriate repairs and maintenance are carried out
- effectively with information fed back to Line manager/CCT where materials experience lead times
- in accordance with best building practice and Health and Safety at Work regulations.
Manage all activities in association with tasks/works electronically utilizing a hand-held device where required (PDA). This includes but not limited to
- Worksheets, timesheets, photographic evidence of works before, during or after
- Order van stock replenishment, booking of annual leave, vehicle inspections, safeguarding issues, risk assessments and method statements.
Manage vehicle material stock by ensuring correct booking and frequent replenishment of items used.
Participate effectively in mobile working by accurately operating the electronic recording system, feeding back job status and information to CCT.
To ensure that all required vehicles checks/paperwork are completed and recorded in accordance with driving at work policy/procedure.
To ensure that vehicles are operated in a safe and courteous manner and represent the company in a positive way to our residents and the general public.
Participate in the delivery of Out of Hours call out service as and if required.
Attending any training that is identified as necessary for the job role.
