We are seeking a reliable and numerate Accounts Assistant to join our finance team at Mercedes-Benz of Brooklands. This full-time, permanent role offers the chance to work within a busy dealership environment supporting the accounting function and contributing to accurate financial reporting. The successful candidate will be organised, collaborative, and comfortable handling transactional accounting tasks with high attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities- Process daily transactions including accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring invoices and payments are recorded accurately and promptly.
- Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, supplier statements and customer accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, assisting with journals, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records in accordance with company procedures and accounting standards.
- Assist with credit control activities, contacting customers as required and following up on overdue balances.
- Prepare routine management reports and assist with ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Work closely with the Assistant Accountant, Finance Manager and cross-functional teams to support audit, compliance and internal control requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and help implement system updates where required.
- AAT qualification or working towards a recognised accounting qualification is desirable; practical experience in accounts or bookkeeping is beneficial.
- Strong numerical ability with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfortable learning dealership management systems (DMS) and finance software.
- Good organisational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative, customer-focused approach.
- Problem-solving mindset, discretion with confidential information and a commitment to maintaining data integrity.
