Type: Full-time, Contract

Location: UK with flexible home, office, or hybrid working

This isn’t a feature factory. You’ll build scalable Flutter apps that make a real impact for global brands — products that matter and leave a legacy. You’ll work in an environment built for focus, creativity and autonomy. No micromanagement. No endless meetings. Just the space to do your best work, your way. We care deeply about our craft and our people. You’ll join a kind, curious and supportive team that balances excellence with empathy. You’ll also have true flexibility: work from anywhere, with a culture that values trust, clarity and growth.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead with both technical depth and collaboration—partnering across disciplines to deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Own product and technical direction from concept through launch.
  • Design robust testing strategies across unit, widget, integration, and end-to-end layers.
  • Support CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions, Bitrise, etc.).
  • Shape team standards and best practices for scalable, maintainable apps.
  • Mentor other engineers and foster continuous learning.

You’ll be hands-on and outcome-driven, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team that values experimentation, evidence and impact.

What You’ll Lead

You’ll start by taking ownership of a major client project — often a flagship mobile app build — delivering engineering excellence and smart testing from day one. You’ll lead Flutter projects end-to-end: defining testing standards, solving complex technical problems, and shaping how we build high-quality mobile apps. As Flutter evolves, you’ll help define its future here—experimenting with new tools, driving team practices, and representing hedgehog lab in the wider Flutter community (including events like Flutter North). Beyond that, you’ll rotate across diverse projects—fintech, healthtech and more—where your expertise can unlock delivery impact.

Required Experience

  • Strong Flutter and Dart experience.
  • Expertise in testing best practices and automation.
  • Familiarity with CI tools and mobile pipelines.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with clean, maintainable code.
  • Experience with mobile performance, UX, and security.
  • Good knowledge of REST APIs and HTTP.

Bonus: native Android (Kotlin) or iOS (Swift) skills.

Nice To Have, But Not Essential

  • Jenkins, Firebase Test Lab, or E2E tooling.
  • Backend/API exposure.
  • Community or open source contributions.
  • Mentoring, blogging, or dev advocacy.
