We are recruiting an experienced Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance function at a manufacturing site. This permanent role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all site machinery while driving continuous improvement and supporting production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the site Engineering and Maintenance team, including Engineers and Apprentices.
- Plan and oversee both preventative and reactive maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability and production uptime.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed in line with safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and statutory requirements.
- Provide mechanical and electrical support across a range of production and site equipment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including reliability improvements, cost reduction, and process optimisation.
- Support engineering projects, upgrades, and modifications with consideration for energy efficiency and environmental impact.
- Promote and support a strong Health & Safety culture across the site.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance documentation is up to date.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and safe systems of work.
- Able to work at height using appropriate equipment.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience managing or supervising engineering teams.
- Experience with textile or similar continuous-process machinery.
- Engineering qualifications (Mechanical / Electrical, 17th or 18th Edition, PAT Testing).
- Additional certifications such as First Aid, Fire Safety, CDM, Manual Handling, Confined Space, MEWP, Welding, or Boiler Certification.
Hours & Package
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Days-based role with occasional out-of-hours call-outs (nights/weekends).
- Saturday morning shifts on a rota, paid at overtime rates.
- Competitive salary.
- 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional leave.
