Canteen Assistant – 24 Hours/week

Heckfield Place is a beautifully restored hotel on a 400-acre farm in the county of Hampshire. The kitchen sources some of its produce from our biodynamic market garden on site, and chefs take regular tours of the farm to draw inspiration from what they see growing. We are looking for a person that is interested in healthy food offerings, utilising the farm as much as possible with limited items bought in. Reduced food waste and the creativity using any spent items from the two restaurants.

Position responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

  • To prepare the dining area for service, which may include moving and or setting up furniture, setting up trolleys and cleaning and dismantling these during and after service.
  • To prepare the service area, hot cupboards and other equipment at the point of service for the efficient and effective service of the meals.
  • To ensure the menu signage and allergen notice board is updated daily.
  • To assist in the serving of food during mealtimes and occasionally assist in the preparation of food.
  • Full understanding of allergens, allergen awareness and food safety protocols.
  • To wash dishes, cutlery, serving utensils, tables and other catering equipment in the catering environment.
  • To clean daily all recognized catering areas to the companies agreed standards.
  • To undergo any on and off-site training sessions as required by the company.
  • Any duties as required to ensure that the dining area, kitchen and plate wash are in a clean, hygienic and safe condition and that the food service is effective and efficient.
  • To occasionally be required to assist the chef in basic kitchen food preparation.
  • To be flexible regarding shifts in times of absence and sickness.
  • Working day hours including weekends.
