Heb Facilities Management is seeking a Cellar Cooling Technician to deliver planned and reactive maintenance services across a diverse portfolio of commercial, hospitality, leisure, retail, healthcare, education, and public sector sites throughout the UK.

As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Cellar Cooling Technician to support the delivery of high-quality maintenance services across our client portfolio.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, the Cellar Cooling Technician will provide both planned and reactive maintenance services across multiple sites and sectors, specialising in cellar cooling and refrigeration systems. The role involves delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), fault finding, reactive repairs, installation works, commissioning activities, and compliance testing on a range of cooling and refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and client requirements. Working across a variety of commercial environments, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining critical cooling systems while delivering excellent customer service and supporting the continued growth of Heb Facilities Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance, reactive repairs, and installation works on systems including:
    • Cellar cooling systems
    • Beer and beverage cooling equipment
    • Split and multi-split refrigeration systems
    • Small commercial refrigeration equipment
    • Heat pumps and condensers
    • Associated electrical controls and safety devices
  • Carry out fault diagnosis, repairs, servicing, and maintenance of refrigeration and cooling equipment.
  • Undertake performance testing, commissioning activities, and routine service inspections.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to reactive maintenance requests from the Helpdesk Team.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
  • Compile quotations for repair and installation works, including labour and material requirements.
  • Identify non-repairable issues and provide recommendations to the Contracts Manager.
  • Travel to client sites as required to fulfil allocated tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and maintain accurate records through the CAFM system.
  • Engage with Health & Safety and Learning & Development initiatives to maintain competency and compliance.
  • Promote sustainable working practices and environmentally responsible refrigerant management.
  • Represent Heb Group professionally at all times when interacting with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role.

Personal Specification

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (or equivalent).
  • F-Gas Category 2 Certification.
  • Proven experience servicing, maintaining, fault finding, and repairing refrigeration and cooling systems.
  • Experience working on cellar cooling systems, refrigeration equipment, condensers, and associated controls.
  • Strong understanding of F-Gas regulations, Health & Safety legislation, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of refrigeration and cooling systems safely and efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • IT literate and able to utilise CAFM or similar systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • CSCS or ECS Card.
  • Experience within hospitality, leisure, retail, or licensed premises environments.
  • Experience working on heat pumps and small commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Flexible and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to delivering high standards.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
