Role and Responsibilities
- As a SEND Teacher at Heaton School, provide tailored education and support to students with special educational needs.
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans; foster inclusive learning environments.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support the well-being and academic progress of each student.
- Develop and implement individualised education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with parents, specialists, and other professionals.
- Deliver differentiated instruction using a range of teaching methods and resources to promote active learning for all students.
- Act as subject lead for the assigned subject area, working with pathway curriculum leads.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the school's SEND improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting social-emotional development.
- Communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders; attend meetings and participate in collaborative decision-making.
- Contribute to the school’s wider SEND provision and maintain accurate student records in compliance with regulations.
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching SEND; newly qualified teachers considered subject to relevant experience.
- Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice, including the SEND Code of Practice; experience with various SEND frameworks.
- Strong understanding of school curriculum and assessment processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Passion for inclusive education and commitment to helping students with SEND reach their potential.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs; ability to work effectively as part of a team.
