We are looking for a friendly, organised and motivated Medical Administrator to join our busy GP practice team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment and takes pride in delivering excellent patient service.

As a Medical Administrator, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. You will work closely with GPs, nurses and the wider practice team, handling a variety of administrative tasks including managing patient records, processing clinical correspondence, supporting appointment administration and responding to patient enquiries with professionalism and empathy.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise a varied workload while maintaining confidentiality. Previous experience in a healthcare or NHS setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.

  • Adequately summarise new patient records
  • Action all incoming emails
  • Scan letters into Docman and assign to the workflow team to action
  • Process requests for information
  • Action GP links and GP2GP tasks and any queries from PCSE
  • Assign and action all non-NHS work

Our main surgery is based on Heaton Moor Road, supported by several branch practices including Adswood Road, Bosden Moor, Cale Green, Dean Lane and Little Moor surgeries, allowing us to provide accessible care to a diverse patient population.

Job responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE: Perform a wide range of general administrative and office support duties to assist in the smooth running of the Practice to facilitate the efficient operation of the service provided to patients.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Registering new patients and updating patient details where required
  • Adequately summarise new patient records
  • Action all incoming emails
  • Scan letters into Docman and assign to the workflow team to action
  • Process requests for information
  • Action GP links and GP2GP tasks and any queries from PCSE
  • Assign and action all non-NHS work

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Other administrative tasks, including but not limited to Cervical smear audit, Diabetic Eye screening, PPA, NDPP and other monthly and weekly duties
  • Provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the Practice team
  • General clerical duties including photocopying and emailing
  • Retrieve documents from patient records when necessary
  • Undertaking any other task/duties as may be reasonably requested

Person Specification:

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths, or equivalent
  • IT literate and confident using Microsoft Office
  • Ideally previous experience of working within Primary Care.
  • Experience of working within a team environment.
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Experience of clinical systems, including EMIS & Docman.
