Heaton Mersey Medical Practice is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our well-established and supportive team for 6 sessions per week. We are a friendly, forward-thinking practice with a strong sense of community and an excellent local reputation. Main duties of the job

  • Weekly on call responsibility and some extended hours

Job responsibilities

  • Provide medical services to patients in line with GMS/PMS contract requirements
  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone, video and online consultations
  • Manage acute, chronic and minor illness presentations
  • Carry out home visits when clinically appropriate
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records using EMIS Web
  • Issue prescriptions and manage medication reviews in line with best practice
  • Interpret and act on diagnostic test results appropriately
  • Participate in the management of long-term conditions and QOF delivery
  • Support the practice with enhanced services and local incentive schemes

Teamwork and Practice Contribution

  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, and administrative staff
  • Attend and contribute to regular clinical and team meetings
  • Assist in training and supervision of medical students and junior staff (if applicable)
  • Participate in audit, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Engage with the local Primary Care Network (PCN) where relevant

Administrative Duties

  • Complete tasks and referrals in a timely and safe manner
  • Provide appropriate documentation for patient reports, insurance, and other third-party requests
  • Follow up on communications from secondary care and community services

Professional Development

  • Maintain full GMC registration and comply with revalidation requirements
  • Participate in annual appraisals and maintain a personal development plan
  • Attend appropriate CPD events and in-house training
  • Engage in peer review and reflective practice

Qualifications

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent
  • JCPTGP General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
