The Knot Inn is a thriving countryside pub near Rudyard Lake, known for its rich heritage, quality seasonal food and warm hospitality. Popular with tourists, walkers, cyclists and locals alike, we are proud of our strong reputation and community ties as a family-run business.
We are looking for an organised and motivated Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of the business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hospitality management experience who enjoys a hands-on role while also taking ownership of key administrative and operational duties.
Working closely with the General Manager and Head Chef, you will help drive standards, service and efficiency across the business.
Responsibilities- Support the daily running of the pub and ensure smooth operations
- Lead by example on the floor and deliver excellent customer service
- Manage shifts and support the team during busy service periods
- Complete administrative tasks including emails, bookings, reports and paperwork
- Manage rotas, staffing levels and holiday requests using company systems
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members
- Maintain staff records, attendance records and HR administration
- Support stock control, ordering, invoices and supplier communication
- Monitor labour costs, stock margins and weekly performance figures
- Ensure compliance records are completed and up to date
- Handle customer feedback professionally and resolve issues promptly
- Step up to manage the business in the absence of the General Manager
- Previous experience as an Assistant Manager, Supervisor or Duty Manager in hospitality
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Confident using email, booking systems and computer-based systems
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Passion for hospitality and customer service
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise effectively
- Good understanding of health & safety and compliance standards
- Hands-on, reliable and professional approach
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport due to rural location
