We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking GP to work in our friendly practice. Heathview Medical Practice is a supportive, nurturing, teaching practice. We would happily support a newly qualified GP or enable a more experienced GP to fly. Special interests would be welcome. We are a training practice in a rural area with a rapidly growing list size due to steadily increasing new housing in the area. We are delighted to be expanding our GP team. We understand that people's needs vary and we are willing to have conversations about flexibility around working hours.

Main duties of the job

  • Clinical Responsibilities: In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Compiling and issuing computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding handwritten prescriptions whenever possible).
  • Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
  • In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

About us

We are a large teaching practice, training all types of students from Doctors, PAs to GPs nurses and ACPs. We work closely with Keele University, and other training facilities in the area. We undertake weekly training lunch and learn meetings that are not only fun, friendly, enriching and count towards your CPD. We are a high achieving QOF practice and encourage all members of staff to be involved and participate.

Job responsibilities

We are looking to appoint a friendly, enthusiastic salaried GP to join our supportive and caring multi-sited Practice situated in Tamworth for approximately 8 sessions, however, this is negotiable for the right candidate. We have a list size of around 18,000 patients. EMIS clinical system. Salary will be negotiable based on experience. It is an exciting time to be joining us. We are looking for someone who is a team player, has a caring and can do attitude and works well in a team. We offer a competitive salary, 6 weeks holiday as well as training and development.

Consultation sessions

  • Including face to face and telephone.
  • Clinical administration.
  • Attend educational, multidisciplinary, practice and clinical meetings (paid).
  • Attend training and events organised by the practice and the ICB/Federation (paid).
  • Participate in an annual performance review.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the practice.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: Qualified GP.
  • Be knowledgeable with IT systems EMIS, Docman, eConsult, Accurx.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
