Heathside Walton-on-Thames, an Ofsted-rated Outstanding school, is entering an exciting phase of growth, and we are delighted to offer the opportunity for a dedicated Teacher of Music to join our thriving Creative Arts faculty. We are seeking an enthusiastic musician who is passionate about developing students’ musical skills, creativity, and appreciation of music across a wide range of styles and traditions.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing Music to life: leading engaging practical lessons, developing performance and composition skills, and inspiring students to understand the role of music in culture, society, and personal expression. Our music department promotes active participation, technical skill development, and confident musical thinking. Students are encouraged to perform, compose, listen critically, and develop a secure understanding of musical elements, notation, and genre.

The successful candidate will:
- Teach Music confidently across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons rooted in secure subject knowledge.
- Develop students’ performance, composition, and listening skills through practical work and creative exploration.
- Plan creative, carefully structured lessons that develop musical understanding, technique, and confidence.
- Use effective assessment strategies to support progress in musical skills, knowledge, and creativity.
- Differentiating teaching to ensure all learners—from beginners to highly skilled musicians—can access, enjoy, and excel in Music.
- Contribute to a rich extracurricular programme, such as choirs, ensembles, concerts, school productions, or music clubs.
