You will provide competent quality management advice to promote compliance to ISO 9001:2015 in the review, audit, certification, induction and management of procedures and processes in electrical infrastructure construction projects. Experience working under UK CDM (2015) regulations is a pre‑requisite. Applicants with inspection/quality control backgrounds will not be considered. You will report to the Quality and Assurance Manager and be a member of the UK Power Networks Services Quality and Assurance team. This role is based in the offices at Heathrow Airport to support project work, work with the management team at Heathrow Airport and act as the local quality representative at operational/project level with external partners.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality management advice about ISO 9001:2015 to other advisors, managers, employees, contractors and clients, and aim to maintain the quality management system to enable design, build, finance, operate and maintain primary electrical infrastructure at Heathrow Airport.
- Contribute to the review of existing and the development of new procedures/processes, including those from central UK Power Networks group and project/contract‑specific procedures; involve in communication, implementation and monitoring within the Heathrow team.
- Monitor compliance with ISO 9001:2015, procedures, legal and moral obligations, national, international and client standards; plan project audits against agreed level 2, 3 and 4 schedules; undertake audits, produce audit reports and ensure findings are resolved promptly.
- Support the Client Delivery Manager and provide guidance to Project Managers in reviewing quality‑related project documents and requirements; develop quality management system inductions, training and communication materials; gather lessons learnt; maintain the project cost of poor quality process; provide updates for monthly reports; support incident investigations.
- Provide a monitoring function to ensure suppliers, subcontractors and services exceed the quality management system expectations; conduct external audits and random performance inspections of field teams to identify improvement issues and highlight good performance.
- Monitor site certification of materials and equipment, including tool calibration, to ensure compliance; maintain project records to compile the final data book and Health & Safety file documentation.
- Facilitate third‑party audits by external certification bodies; champion quality management system processes to keep certification requirements met.
- Be a point of reference for the ISO 44001 collaborative working relationship with Heathrow Airport Limited and support the team in maintaining certification and the working relationship.
- Demonstrate time working in the UK construction industry under UK CDM (2015) regulations and support the Client Delivery Manager and the project team in applying CDM (2015) requirements.
Qualifications
- HNC (minimum requirement) qualification in a discipline such as Quality Management, Construction, Project Management, Technical/Engineering or equivalent.
- Practitioner member of the Chartered Quality Institute with an aspiration to gain Chartered status.
- Quality management system experience in construction under UK CDM (2015) regulations (excluding manufacturing/production line‑based or other non‑construction experience, including QC/inspection roles).
- Trained QMS Auditor/Internal QMS Auditor with experience auditing to ISO 9001:2015.
- Experience of root cause analysis.
- Ability to attain client airport access passes and licences required for Heathrow Airport.
- Valid full clean UK driving licence.
- Desirable: Flexibility with approach to work and ability to prioritise as directed by the Client Delivery Manager, Project Manager and Quality & Assurance Manager on Heathrow projects.
- Desirable: Audit experience to ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
- Knowledge of ISO 55001:2014, ISO 44001:2017, ISO 19650‑1:2018, ISO 19650‑2:2018, ISO 19650‑3:2020 and ISO 19650‑5:2020 is advantageous.
