Project Controls Technician Apprenticeship

Job Description

A Project Controls Technician controls, monitors and systematically analyzes progress and performance data on engineering, manufacturing, construction and infrastructure projects. The role requires strong analytical skills and a practical approach to interpret technical information. The technician uses complex software tools to undertake a wide range of project controls tasks, including identifying the right data for scrutinizing progress, setting baseline targets, tracking progress and performance, forecasting trends, identifying, modelling and anticipating deviations from baseline, assessing the impact of design and construction changes, and using insight to recommend early preventative and remedial actions.

Duties

  • Control of a project lifecycle considering the relationship between time and cost, quality and risk.
  • Reviewing and interpreting technical information from different sources such as engineering drawings, manufacturing plans, or construction plans.
  • Interpret technical requirements and specifications to develop estimate techniques.
  • Scheduling and planning.
  • Create, use and interpret work breakdown and coding structures.

Office-Based Role

This role involves prolonged periods of desk‑based work, computer use, and telephone communication within an office environment. K10 Apprenticeships will consider reasonable adjustments where possible to support individuals in carrying out the essential duties of the role. K10 is a disability‑confident employer proud to support apprentices in the workplace and at college, with the team trained in assisting learners with varying levels of support and guidance.

Typical Working Week

40 hours p/w with start time typically between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of paid 8 hours at college.

  • A love of variety in a role and ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast‑paced working environment.
  • Ability to quickly prioritize tasks and the initiative to dive head‑first into problem solving.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and enjoy working with multiple teams.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information and effectively communicate this to different team members and audiences.
  • Ability to visit different sites and training days.
  • Curiosity to learn quickly in a reactive and dynamic working environment.
  • Able to understand and follow health and safety protocols.

Minimum Requirements

English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade 4/C or above, or Functional Skills at Level 2 or above.

Key Training/College Information

K10 will enrol you to the course and fund your qualifications through an accredited training provider. The apprenticeship duration is 40 months.

To start this apprenticeship, you’ll need to be:

  • Living in England for the last 3 years and having right to work status.
  • Not enrolled on any other courses.
  • 18+ due to site H&S rules.
  • Drivers licence.
