Job Description

At Heathrow, our Manufacturing Production Workshop is a small but highly skilled engineering team with a big reputation across the airport.

Our motto is simple: "You Break It, We Make It."

From designing and manufacturing enclosures, ramps, barriers, machine guarding, frames, cabinets and trolleys, to creating one-off bespoke solutions for operational teams, no two days are the same.

Shift Pattern

4 x 10 hour shifts Monday to Thursday (07:00-17:00), 1 x 10 hour night per month (19.00-05.00).

Your role will involve

You’ll be part of a dedicated team that designs, fabricates, manufactures and installs practical engineering solutions across the Heathrow campus.

  • Weld, fabricate and machine bespoke products and components.
  • Manufacture and repair items including enclosures, ramps, barriers, bins, guarding, cabinets, trolleys and specialist equipment.
  • Interpret drawings, sketches and customer requirements to deliver high-quality finished products.
  • Work directly with customers to understand challenges and create practical solutions.
  • Install finished products safely within operational environments.
  • Ensure all work meets Heathrow standards and ASIAD compliance requirements where applicable.
  • Support sustainable manufacturing by reducing waste, repurposing materials and identifying innovative ways of working.
  • Deliver projects safely, efficiently and always on time.

  • Experience in welding, fabrication and/or machining (NVQ L3/City and Guilds)
  • Strong practical engineering and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using workshop machinery and engineering equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work.
