You might be working with the technology and data that power our city within a city, driving vital commercial agreements with everyone from retailers to airlines, or improving the unique infrastructure that includes everything from 200 buildings to 250 HV substations. Senior Project Managers are team-focussed with a clear skill and desire to lead and develop their team of Project Managers. You will be experienced at leading multidisciplinary teams on complex and intrusive programmes & projects, and be able to drive continuous improvement and quality through each of your workstreams. Developing and nurturing stakeholder and supply chain relationships will be key to the successful provision of flexible solutions for the wider Heathrow Airport team. Contract management, project reporting and adherence to the Heathrow Gateway Lifecycle will ensure that your programmes deliver the agreed benefits back into the business.

Your role will involve:

  • Plan, lead and manage the project team to ensure an integrated, sustainable, and effective solution is delivered which meets the project brief and benefits realisation.
  • Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders and ensure that all user requirements are captured, and approvals are in place to meet schedule dates, as well as understanding regulatory requirements.
  • End to end execution planning and management, ensuring clear goals, roles and deliverables are well defined to ensure delivery of the goals and value for money of the expenditure.
  • Direct deployment of Safety obligations and initiatives and via everyone involved or touched by the project.
  • Ensure the integration of design, development, construction delivery, commissioning and process requirements is achieved using the subject matter experts in the team (including own expertise as appropriate).
  • Accountable for reporting of project performance using project controls tools, including earned value and quantitative risk analysis.
  • Ensure the project deliverables have been tested, commissioned, and handed into operation in accordance with Heathrow requirements.
  • Ensure post project reviews are done and learning and benefits realisation are captured.

Essential Skills:

  • Degree qualification in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent academic achievement.
  • Professional qualifications (membership of an appropriate institution) or evidence demonstrating continued personal development.
  • Experience in a range of capital / revenue projects with a clear understanding of project management particularly APM.
  • Proven track record in planning and implementation of complex projects, within a live operational environment, with multiple stakeholder interfaces.
  • Experience of commercial and contractual environment.

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
