The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
This role has ownership of key monthly safety reports that meet the regulatory requirements of the Safety Office, as well as providing internal assurance. As a result, the Safety Manager participates in CAA compliance monitoring and assurance activities and leads relevant safety committees.
Please note this is 12 month Maternity Cover.
Your role will involve:
- Lead and manage the Aerodrome Safety Management System (A-SMS), including liaison with regulatory bodies.
- Drive continuous improvement of the A-SMS, using monitoring, evaluation, reporting, action tracking, and independent audits.
- Provide assurance to senior leadership that the A-SMS is effective and delivering its intended objectives.
- Ensure alignment between the A-SMS and the Airside Quality Management System (QMS) in collaboration with Continuous Improvement teams.
- Oversee effective compliance monitoring in preparation for the annual CAA audit, using internal and external independent resources.
- Support full lifecycle management of incidents and near-miss investigations in line with aerodrome safety procedures.
- Interpret and analyse safety data and KPIs to identify trends, hazards, and operational risks.
- Promote and embed a positive, ‘just’ safety culture, while identifying and delivering opportunities to improve safety across the organisation.

- Operational experience in Airside Operations.
- Effective leadership and influence, capable of guiding cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including producing high-quality written documentation.
- Analytical and problem-solving capability, able to interrogate data, generate insights, and think laterally when required.
- High IT literacy and operational readiness, including strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, airfield/airside experience, and eligibility for an Airside Driving Permit.
Desirable skills:
- Experience with Safety and Quality Management Systems, including their continuous improvement and associated compliance frameworks.
- Audit and assurance capability, with experience conducting or supporting audits in safety or quality environments.
- Ability to promote a positive, ‘just’ safety culture, supported by strong data analysis skills and experience with tools such as Power BI.
